Public Hearing Set on Proposed Ban on Tobacco, Nicotine Sales

The Corte Madera Town Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday, Aug. 4, to consider introducing an ordinance that would prohibit the sale of tobacco and nicotine products by local businesses in Corte Madera, according to a Town notice posted this week.

The notice frames the hearing as a first step toward possible introduction of the ordinance, but does not detail exemptions, penalties, or a proposed effective date — meaning how broadly the ban would reach local retailers, from grocery and convenience stores to smoke shops, is still an open question.

The Aug. 4 session is the public's chance to weigh in before the Council decides whether to move the ordinance forward.
