Peri Park Playground Stays Closed Past Two Weeks as Oak Tree Concern Surfaces

The Peri Park playground, closed since July 24 for a flea infestation, won't be reopening on the original two-week timeline after all. Public Works has been treating the site for fleas since the Town was first notified, but that job is now tangled up with a second, unrelated problem.

Town officials say they've identified a new safety concern involving the park's two large oak trees, and that issue now has to be addressed before the playground can reopen. No new reopening date was given.

There's no word yet on what exactly is wrong with the oaks or what remediation will look like — worth watching for a follow-up notice from Public Works.
