Fleas Force Firefighters Out of Temporary Station; Council Meets to Approve Pesticide Exception
Despite extensive efforts by the Town and the Ross Valley Fire Department to keep the temporary fire station livable, fleas have taken over the living quarters, and firefighters have had to move out until the infestation is cleared.
RVFD crews assigned to Fairfax have relocated to Station 20 in Sleepy Hollow while the problem gets sorted out.
To fix it, the Town Council called a special meeting for today with a single substantive item on the agenda: a resolution authorizing an exception to the Town's pesticide ordinance so the temporary station can be treated for fleas. Councilmember Lisel Blash is set to join by teleconference from Illinois.
No staff recommendation or outcome has been posted yet; once the exception is approved and treatment is done, crews are expected to move back in.
