Fairfax Weighs New Rules for Summer Concerts and Outdoor Events

The Parks and Recreation Commission takes up two policy questions Monday that could reshape how Fairfax handles its busiest public gatherings: a protocol letter for musicians playing the summer concert series and a broader look at special use permit requirements for outdoor events held around town.

Neither item comes with a staff recommendation yet — both are teed up as discussion items, meaning the commission will hash out expectations (noise, load-in, permitting thresholds) rather than vote on anything final at this meeting.

The same agenda is stacked with requests to use Bolinas Park: Chabad of West Marin wants Town sponsorship for a Jewish Family Festival on Tuesday, May 25th, the Chamber of Commerce is asking for backing on a Dia de los Muertos celebration October 30–November 1, and the Chamber has also floated a full slate of Bingo Nights running monthly through 2027. Commissioners will also get a recap of the recent Town picnic before adjourning.
