Commission to weigh Parkade sculpture, recurring Women's Club concerts

The Parks and Recreation Commission's October 12 agenda brings two new proposals for public space in town: a permanent art piece for the Parkade and a recurring concert series at the Women's Club, 46 Park Road.

Tim Horn is pitching a new art sculpture to be installed in the Parkade, though the agenda does not yet specify materials, size, or cost. It's listed as new business, meaning commissioners will hear the pitch and discuss it rather than vote on final approval at this meeting.

Separately, Ian Jensen is asking the commission to approve recurring 'House in the Park' music pop-up and DJ events inside the Women's Club, proposed for Oct. 23, Nov. 20, Dec. 18, Jan. 22, and Feb. 26, running 4:30 to 8:30 pm each date. That's a five-date commitment of the hall's evening hours, which commissioners will need to balance against other demands on the space.

Both items go before the commission as new business on October 12; no staff recommendation or public comment is on record yet.
