King Mountain Open Space group to detail 161-acre gift

Tuesday's council meeting opens with a presentation from the King Mountain Open Space Association on the purchase, donation and endowment of a 161-acre King Mountain estate property to the Marin County Open Space District, financed by the Shelby Collum Davis Charitable Fund — the week's single biggest item on an otherwise light agenda.

The same session brings the Marin County Office of Emergency Management in to brief council on alerting systems and El Nino readiness, followed by a council discussion of the city's own winter storm and high tide preparations for 2026/27. Staff will also update council on the Ross Valley Sanitary District's ongoing cost dispute with Central Marin Sanitation Agency over treatment charges.

None of these items involve a vote or a public hearing; they're informational briefings meant to get the council — and residents — ready for the wet season.

Council to set new library community room fees

Council will consider Resolution 71/26, which would adopt new fees for use of the Community Rooms at the Larkspur Library, alongside a presentation on how the community has been using the new Library at Rose Lane since it opened.

Staff also plan to lay out plans to expand the library's operating hours, giving council its first formal look at demand data before any hours decision is made.

Both items are expected to move as routine business rather than contested votes, but they mark the first real policy discussion of the library's operations since it opened.
