City suspends license plate reader and camera program

The city confirmed twice this week — in a Monday news flash and a follow-up Tuesday — that it has suspended its Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) program and live feed cameras.

Neither posting explained why the suspension happened, how long it will last, or what triggered the review. No agenda item, staff report, or council vote accompanied either statement, leaving residents to wonder whether this is a pause for policy reasons, a technical issue, or something else entirely.

We'll keep watching for an agenda item or report that fills in the why — so far, the city has only said that it happened.

Council and school board meet to discuss shared priorities

The City Council and the Mill Valley School District Board of Trustees held a joint meeting Monday, October 19, described by the city as a chance to celebrate existing partnerships and look for new ways to collaborate.

Two separate news flashes this week recapped the session, but neither offered specifics on what priorities were discussed or what, if any, concrete next steps came out of it. For now, it reads as a relationship-building session rather than a policy decision point — worth watching if any shared initiatives surface on a future council or board agenda.
