Knoll acquisition, rodenticide rules and a preserve dispute headline a packed open space agenda

The week's only substantive news out of Fairfax committees was a look ahead: the Fairfax Open Space Committee (FOSC) and San Anselmo Open Space Committee (SAOSC) posted a combined agenda for a special joint meeting on August 19, kicking off with a potluck at Robson-Harrington Park before the two panels break into separate sessions.

The item drawing the most attention is the Sky Ranch Knoll acquisition, which SAOSC Co-Chair Jonathan Braun will present to both committees — a potential land purchase that ranks as the single highest-interest item on the agenda.

Also queued up: FOSC member Joe Franaszek will brief both groups on Measure A and the Marin Civil Grand Jury's recommendations, SAOSC members plan to raise concerns about rodenticide use in local open space, and Rene Voss of the Western Alliance for Nature will bring a discussion of the Scenic-Redwood Preserve in Fairfax — a recurring flashpoint. FOSC will close its own session with routine business, including a vote on whether to dissolve its Bio-Diversity Subcommittee.

Nothing here is decided yet — it's an agenda, not an outcome — but the lineup suggests August 19 could be the most consequential open space meeting of the summer. We'll be watching.
