Demolition permit filed for School Street Plaza buildings

The owners of School Street Plaza at 95 Broadway have submitted a demolition permit application to the Town, which is now under review.

The application asks to remove the buildings and other structures on the site, but it does not propose removing the building foundations, trees, or stone walls.

Fairfax pledges $75,000 toward Sky Ranch Knoll purchase

Fairfax's Open Space Committee agreed to recommend a $75,000 Town contribution toward purchase of the 7-acre Sky Ranch Knoll, with $50,000 drawn from Measure A funds over two fiscal years and $25,000 from the committee's undesignated balance, pending action by the Town Council.

Committee chair Susan Pascal Beran reported that the regional funding campaign, led by Jonathan Braun of the SAOSC, has received an extension on the purchase deadline until September.

In a separate vote, the committee reconfirmed naming the Wall property the Fairfax Open Space Preserve and renamed its trail from Upper Marinda Drive to 'Liile Yomi' — meaning 'the high place' — per a recommendation from the Graton Rancheria, as tribal consultations continue and a Priority Conservation Area grant application remains pending.

The May 26 meeting also welcomed two new youth members, Kirnan Toy and Jessie Dong, replacing graduating seniors Maria Pastor and Milo Hetherington.
