Draft General Plan and EIR Released, Setting Up Final Review as GPAC's Work Concludes

Nine months into 2026, San Anselmo's 2045 General Plan Update reached a milestone: the Public Draft General Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Report have been released for public review, and the General Plan Advisory Committee met to go over comments received and the road ahead to adoption.

The EIR drew late mail comments from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Services, Caltrans, and the Marin Conservation League, along with a resident named Braun — signaling that state agencies and local advocacy groups are watching the plan's environmental analysis closely as it heads toward finalization.

The committee also took up a bigger-picture question: how the Town will actually use the plan once adopted, including what role boards, committees, and commissions will play, and how annual work plans and General Plan progress reports will track implementation going forward.

With the draft now out and implementation planning underway, GPAC used the meeting to recognize its members' service as the committee's multi-year run winds down.

Memorial Park Athletic Court Overhaul Reaches 60% Design Stage

At Memorial Park, the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed 60% design plans for athletic court improvements, weighing conceptual design materials alongside public comments submitted ahead of the meeting.

The review is a checkpoint rather than a final sign-off — commissioners looked at where the design stands roughly two-thirds of the way through the process, with more refinement expected before construction-ready plans are complete.

The item came before a full agenda that also included a Creek Park Plaza status update and a Red Hill Dog Park update, underscoring how much of the commission's fall workload is tied up in the town's park infrastructure pipeline.
