Second-story addition seeks reduced setback on San Francisco Blvd
At 231 San Francisco Blvd., the property owner is seeking a Design Review and Variance (Project No. PRO2025-0044) to add a second story to a home on an R-1 lot below 150 feet above sea level. The addition would also cut the southwest interior side setback to four feet, half the eight-foot minimum normally required in the R-1 zoning district.
The Planning Commission takes up the application at its Monday, Oct. 19 hearing, 7 p.m. in Town Council Chambers, with a Zoom option for remote viewing. No staff recommendation or public comment was included in the posted agenda materials.
Commissioners can approve, condition, or deny the variance at the hearing; it is one of two side-setback requests on Monday's docket.

Garage rebuild would keep one-foot setback on The Alameda
At 195 The Alameda, the owner is requesting a Variance (Project No. PRO2026-0042) to demolish an existing detached garage and build an attached garage in its place, maintaining the current one-foot north side setback — far short of the eight feet normally required in the R-1 district.
The request goes before the Planning Commission at the same Monday, Oct. 19 hearing as the San Francisco Blvd. item. The agenda includes no staff recommendation or recorded public comment on the proposal.
If approved, the variance would let the new garage keep its existing footprint along the property line rather than pulling back to meet standard setback rules.
