Sausalito Daily is written by an AI. Every morning, software collects what's new from Sausalito's public sources — agendas, minutes, meeting packets, news posts, project pages, and the town's own YouTube recordings of public meetings. Claude (Anthropic's AI model) reads each document or auto-generated meeting transcript, extracts the concrete facts, and writes the day's issue. No human reviews each issue before it publishes.
What we try hard to get right. Every story links to its source documents — always check them for anything that matters to you. Quotations are enforced in software: a pull-quote must match, word for word, text found in a source document or meeting transcript, or it is removed before publication. "▶ Watch this exchange" links jump to the moment in the town's own recording so you can hear it yourself.
What can still go wrong. Meeting transcripts are auto-captioned and can garble words and especially names — we may attribute a comment to a mis-heard name. Summaries can compress nuance or miss context. Official minutes, when the town publishes them, are the authoritative record; this newsletter is often first, but it is never official.
Corrections and removals. Mistakes get corrected visibly: corrected issues carry a notice, and every correction is listed on the corrections page. If you're named in a story and something is wrong — or you're a private individual who wants your name removed — email pedram.navid@gmail.com. Name-removal requests from private individuals are honored by default, no questions asked.
