Neither item was a final vote — both were direction-seeking discussions, and no outcome is recorded in the agenda materials. If council told staff to keep moving on either, expect Gate 5 design work and/or a more detailed EIFD formation proposal, likely with public hearings, later this year.

Sausalito's Rewritten Sign Ordinance Is One Vote From the Finish Line

Council introduced Ordinance 09-2026 on Tuesday, an amendment to Chapter 10.42 of the Municipal Code — the city's sign rules — following a Planning Commission resolution recommending adoption. The package includes a new “cleanline ordinance” exhibit, though the agenda materials don't spell out the substance of what's changing for business owners and sign-makers around town.

By the Sept. 15 meeting, the ordinance is set to clear its last procedural hurdle: council is slated to waive the second reading, the routine final step before a new ordinance takes effect. Barring a surprise, Sausalito will have a new sign law on the books before fall is out.

Repair or Replace? Turney Street Dock's Future Comes to a Head

The aging Turney Street Dock comes before council on Sept. 15, when staff will present a full condition assessment and ask council to weigh in on a preferred path — repair or full replacement. The assessment was shaped partly by a community listening session, so residents have already had input before the item reaches the dais.

No staff recommendation is locked in and no cost estimate appears in the agenda; the item simply calls for council to "provide direction to staff regarding pursuit of the preferred concept for repair/replacement." That makes this less a vote on a plan than the moment the city picks a direction to plan around.
