Bridgeway housing appeal draws over 200 public comments

At 605-613 Bridgeway Boulevard, the City Council took up developer Willy's LLC's appeal of Planning Commission Resolution 2025-07, which had upheld city staff's administrative determinations on a housing project proposed under the state's SB330 and Density Bonus Law. The appeal covers a Design Review Permit, Tentative Map, and Certificate of Appropriateness, and the applicant has also filed a Challenged Conduct Notice that the Council was asked to respond to.

Staff brought the Council two competing paths forward: one draft resolution would uphold the Planning Commission's original action, while an alternative would instead allow the project's proposed density to proceed. The agenda does not specify which option staff favors, leaving the choice squarely with the Council.

The hearing drew more than 200 written public comments, an unusually large volume for a Sausalito land-use item, including submissions from the group Save Our Sausalito and a long list of named residents such as Claudia Horty, Barbara Nelson, Courtney Goff, Craig Robbins, Linda Fotsch, and Susan Kirsch. The scale of the response signals this is shaping up as one of the more contested development fights the city has seen in some time.

What happens next depends on which resolution the Council adopts; the outcome was not stated in the agenda materials reviewed here.
